Kollel Yom Shishi was a huge hit!

Another great program by the Bet Shemesh Community Beit Medrash initiative this morning with more than 200 men and women coming to hear Rav Hershel Schecter and Rav Mayer Twersky. Special thanks to Rav David and Rav Lichtenstein for introducing our speakers and coming to the shiurim as well.Thank you to Yeshiva University Israel division and Yeshiva university Israel alumni for their co-sponsorship as well as Yeshivat Reishit Yerushalayim and our community shuls: BMTL, Ohel Yonah Menachem, Bet Knesset Feigenson and  Netzach Menashe for co-sponsoring. Kollel Yom Shishi on Friday February 26th

We are excited to announce that Rav Hershel Schachter shlit’a and Rav Mayer Twersky Shlit’a, Roshei Yeshiva from RIETS New York and noted speakers have agreed to present shiurim at Kollel Yom Shishi on Friday February 26th, 2016. The shiurim will take place in Bet Midrash Torani Leumi, Rechov Asher 1, Bet Shemesh. Rav Schachter’s topic will “Segulot B’Halacha”. Rav Twersky’s topic will be “Growth in Ruchniut during Turbulent Times”. The shiurim will be in English.  Marei Mekomot will be available. See Flyer for more information:

 

Great shiur given by Rav Shapira Shlit’a

A large crowd attended the shiur this past Thursday night at Bet Knesset Feigenson to hear Rav Yaakov Shapira Shlit’a.  The Rav spoke on the topic of קבלת צדקה מגוי.  Many thanks to Bet Knesset Feigenson for hosting the shiur and all those who worked hard making the arrangements. Huge turnout to greet and hear Rav Meir Goldwicht

We were fortunate to have a great turnout Thursday night January 7, 2016 to hear the shiur given by the renowned magid shiur,  Rav Meir Goldwicht. Over 150 men and women from across the Bet Shemesh community attended the shiur in Bet Knesset Netzach Menashe. The shiur is available under the shiurim link on this site or on yutorah.org

Rav Yakov Shapiro Shlit’a to Speak on February 4th at 8:30pm

We are excited to announce that Rav Yakov Shapira shlit’a, Rosh Yeshiva Mercaz Harav in Jerusalem and a noted speaker has agreed to present the shiur on February 4th. The shiur will take place in Bet Knesset Feigenson (Hashoshan 24) in Bet Shemesh. The topic will be “Tzedaka: Donations from Gentiles. Allowed?”. The shiur will be in hebrew.  Marei Mekomot will be provided a few days before the shiur and will be available on Feb 4th also. The schedule:  7:30pm preparation for shiur. 8:15pm Maariv followed by shiur at 8:30pm and Kugal/Cholent at 9:30pm.

ravshapiraRabbi Shapira is Rosh Yeshiva of the flagship religious Zionist yeshiva in Jerusalem, Merkaz Harav, founded by Rabbi Kook. A noted Torah scholar and leader, son of the late Chief Rabbi Avraham Shapira, he is member of the Supreme Council of the Chief Rabbinate of Israel.

Rav Menachem Borstein Shlit’a, founder of Machon Puah, to speak on Thursday Nov 24th at 8:15pm

We are excited to announce that  Rav Menachem Borstein shlita, founder of Machon Puah, has agreed to present the shiur on November 24th. The shiur will take place in Bet Medrash Torani Leumi (BMTL) in Bet Shemesh. The topic will be “שיבוט גנטי” – “Genetic Cloning”. The shiur will be in hebrew.  Marei Mekomot are below.

We are excited to announce that Rav Meir Goldwicht shlit’a, Rosh Yeshiva Yeshiva University in New York and a noted speaker has agreed to present the shiur on January 7th. The shiur will take place in Bet Knesset Netzach Menashe (Reuven 18) in Bet Shemesh. The topic will be הבית והמשפחה- בין כיבוד הורים לחינוך בנים – בהלכה ובאגדה. The shiur will be in hebrew.  Marei Mekomot will be provided a few days before the shiur and will be available on Jan 7th also. The schedule:  7:30pm preparation for shiur. 8:00pm Maariv followed by shiur at 8:15pm and Kugal/Cholent at 9:15pm.

Rav Meir Goldwicht, a prominent Israeli scholar and educator, is the Joel and Maria Finkle Visiting Israeli Rosh Yeshiva and a rosh yeshiva at the Yeshiva Program/Mazer School of Talmudic Studies at Yeshiva University. He is also head rosh yeshiva at the Irving I. Stone Beit Midrash Program. Rabbi Goldwicht received semikha from the renowned rabbinic authorities Rabbi Zalman Nehemia Goldberg, former Chief Rabbi of Jerusalem HaRav HaGaon Betzallel Zolti and Rabbi Ovadia Yosef, HaRav Rashi of Israel. Rabbi Goldwicht delivers Hebrew and English shiurim (lectures) extensively across the metropolitan area, throughout the United States and in Israel, including weekly evening shiurim in 5 New York area communities. He has delivered more than 1,000 inspiring shiurim every year to grateful audiences. Rabbi Goldwicht is also rosh kollel at Camp Mesorah.

 

Rav Rimon shiur was a big success

On Thursday Dec 3rd, we were privileged to hear from Rav Yosef Zvi Rimon who spoke on several topics related to personal safety in dangerous situations and various issues that come up in the army.  Over 100 men and women from across the Bet Shemesh community attended the shiur in Bet Knesset Ohel Yonah Menachem.

Rav Yosef Zvi Rimon Shlit’a to Speak on December 3rd at 8:45pm

We are excited to announce that Rav Yosef Zvi Rimon shlit’a, Community Rav of Alon Shvut and a noted speaker has agreed to present the shiur on December 3rd. The shiur will take place in Bet Knesset Ohel Yonah Menchem in Bet Shemesh. The topic will be an expanded discussion of hilchot mechablim/inyanei tzava. Rav Yosef Zvi RimonAbout Rav Rimon:  Rav Yosef-Tzvi Rimon studied at the Netiv Meir Yeshiva High School in Jerusalem and joined Yeshivat Har Etzion in 1987. He served in the Armored Corps in the context of his army service in the Hesder Program and earned a Bachelor of Education degree from the Herzog College. He has served as a Ram in the Yeshiva since 1996 and also teaches classes in halacha for the entire Yeshiva. In 2001, Rav Rimon headed the Halacha Program in the Yeshiva’s Kollel, and published a book “Shiurei Shevi’it” on the laws of Shemitta. Today, Rav Rimon serves as a neighborhood Rav in Alon Shevut, and as a Ram for first-year students in the Yeshiva. He publishes study sheets on various halachic topics and teaches at the Herzog College and at the Beit Midrash for Women in Migdal Oz.

Rav Dovid Miller’s shiur was a big hit

Our inaugural shiur with Rav Dovid Miller, rosh kollel in Gruss Kollel, was a huge success. Over 80 people from across the various community shul participated. Many came to study the מראי מקומות in the hour before the shiur. Then Rav Miller presented a very enlightening shiur on the importance of ברכת התורה and כתר תורה dedicated to the memory of Rav Aharon Lichtenstein zt’l. Afterwards we enjoyed discussing the shiur over cholent and kugel.
